The trend to nationalize energy reserves is spreading

After Russia led the way, other countries followed the trend to nationalize their energy reserves, and now Bolivia has followed Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez in doing the same in Latin America.

Chavez: Socialism the only solution for the region

While on his recent visit to Bolivia, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said that the solution to the region's needs was a switch to socialism, and not what he termed "the crumbs of the empire".

US deciding whether Bolivia has failed drugs standard

The United States has put off a decision as to whether Bolivia, the world's third largest cocaine producer, has met its "failed demonstrably" standard. If it has, then all U.S. aid to Bolivia excepting for counternarcotics and humanitarian funds, will be cut off.
